The following are frequently asked questions we receive from family members
and residents. If you have a question that is not answered below

Who do I contact regarding admissions
and a tour of the facility?
Our admissions staff is available seven days a week. Call 301/762-8900
and we will be happy to answer any questions you have or set up a tour.
Can
residents request dietary preferences?
Special dietary meals and plans are provided for residents based on their
medical needs.
Are
there payment options for the treatment and care provided by Collingswood?
Collingswood accepts many different forms of reimbursement such as
Medicare, medical insurance such as TriCare, AARP, Blue Cross, and
managed care plans, Veteran's Administration Contract, private payment
and Medicaid. Each situation is unique and we work on creating a plan
that works best for each individual.
I am
not sure how to go about filing or managing Long-Term Care Medicaid,
where do I turn?
Our team can help guide you through the complicated task of filing for
Long Term Care Medical Assistance. Our staff will help answer questions
and help with the paperwork.
What
are visiting hours?
8 am to 7 pm 7 days a week.
What
if I can not make visiting hours?
Nurses will work with families on an individual bases to help with off-hour
visiting.
Are
there secure units for residents that need 24 hour supervision?
Each of the four units at Collingswood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
has a Licensed Nurse Unit Manager who is responsible for the care of
residents living on that unit. The Alzheimer’s unit is equipped
with security at all exits.
Can
I take my family member out during the day or even overnight?
Collingswood encourages family interaction and outings. There are specific
guidelines for different insurances, but we can help coordinate almost
all requests.

HELPFUL INFORMATION
Terms to Know
Skilled
Nursing Facility, (SNF)
A term used to describe care given in a licensed nursing care facility
(many times referred to as a nursing home).
Respite
Care
A short stay of 5 to 30 days in a nursing facility to give caregivers
a well-deserved break to re-energize and take care of themselves.
Medicaid
A joint federal and state program that helps with medical cost for some
people with low incomes and limited resources. Medicaid programs
vary from state to state, but most health care costs are covered
if you qualify.
Medicare
A Federal health insurance program that helps with medical cost for people
age 65 or older or under 65 years of age with certain disabilities,
or End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis
or kidney transplant).
Benefit
Period
The way that insurers measures your use of hospital and skilled nursing
facility (SNF) services. A benefit period begins the day you go to a
hospital and skilled nursing facility. The benefit period ends when you
haven't received any hospital care (or skilled care in a SNF) for 60
days in a row. If you go into the hospital after one benefit period has
ended, a new benefit period begins. There is no limit to the number of
benefit periods you can have.
