The goal of the Collingswood Rehabilitation team is to facilitate recovery and help our residents regain the skills and confidence needed to reach their highest functional level. We coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to address each resident’s goals and promote a smooth transition back to the
community whenever possible. Most of our short stay residents report complete restoration of their activities of daily living upon discharge from our program.

Collingswood offers rehabilitation services for the evaluation and treatment of multiple conditions including: acute or chronic disorders such as arthritis, kidney disease, cardiovascular accident (stroke), TIA, joint replacement, hip and pelvic fractures, movement disorders, musculoskeletal problems, neuromuscular disease, and reconditioning. The Collingswood team of licensed professionals will develop individualized plans for each patient to maximize recovery and achieve the highest level of function.

Physical therapy services include therapeutic exercise and strengthening, balance retraining, gait training, functional mobility training, prescription of assistive devices, application of modalities, and wheelchair seating and positioning.

Occupational therapy services are available to improve daily living skills such as eating, dressing, and bathing, to provide training in the use of adaptive devices to improve functional/perceptual cognitive skills, and to address upper extremity/hand problems.

Speech/language pathology services address communication and cognitive deficits as well as eating and swallowing disorders.

Our therapists utilize a variety of tools to promote recovering, including weights, cycles, recumbent trainers, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation. Our resident “apartment” features a full kitchen and is used to provide meal and home making activities in preparation for return to home.
